READIN

Jeremy's journal

He became so absorbed in his reading that he spent his nights reading from dusk to dawn, and his days from dawn to dusk; and thus, from so little sleep and from so much reading, his brain dried up, so that he came to lose all judgement.

Miguel de Cervantes

I first heard Bruce Cockburn's music on a cassette tape of Stealing Fire that Ellen had when we started dating. That was right after she had come back from Nicaragua and I remember we listened to it (a whole lot) as much for the rebellious spirit of it as for its musical beauty. Somehow have not thought of this song in a long time, and am glad to have it crop up uninvited in my memory this morning.
